Boston Red Sox 4 – Chicago Cubs 10
Highlights: James Paxton was perfect with three strikeouts and just 22 pitches over the first two innings. Then came the third inning when the Red Sox lefty allowed the Nos. 7-9 hitters to reach on a walk, hit by pitch and walk. The Cubs scored six times against Paxton in the inning and won 10-4 over the Red Sox at Wrigley Field on Saturday. Paxton allowed three walks and three hits, including Cody Bellinger’s 414-foot grand slam, during a 41-pitch third inning. Boston also played some sloppy defense behind him. Chicago White Sox 6 – Atlanta Braves 5
Highlights: Jake Burger‘s 20th homer was memorable, even though it came later in the season than he hoped. Burger’s sixth-inning homer off Spencer Strider gave Chicago the lead, Andrew Benintendi drove in three runs with three hits and the White Sox held on in the ninth inning to beat the Braves 6-5 on Saturday night for their first win in Atlanta. Burger struggled before the All-Star break, hitting only .148 (16 for 108) in a 30-game span that included only six homers. He took a .217 batting average into Saturday night’s game.
