  Chicago Cubs 7 – Toronto Blue Jays 5

Highlights:  Franmil Reyes homered, Nico Hoerner drove in a pair of runs and the Chicago Cubs beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5 on Wednesday night to avoid a three-game sweep. Ian Happ and Zach McKinstry each had two hits as the Cubs snapped a five-game losing streak north of the border. Chicago went 15-15 in August, its first non-losing month since going 19-8 in May 2021. Read more at:  (AP)

Kansas City Royals 2 – Chicago White Sox 4

Highlights:  Lance Lynn pitched four-hit ball through seven innings, Elvis Andrus hit a tiebreaking home run in the fifth and the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals  4-2 Wednesday night to snap a five-game losing streak. Lynn (4-5), who was reinstated from the bereavement list before the game, didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight for the fifth time this season. Chicago SkyConnecticut Sun 77 – Chicago Sky 85

Highlights:  Candace Parker can appreciate that the Chicago Sky seem to dial up their best basketball whenever their backs are against the wall. That certainly was the case as Parker scored 22 points and the Sky evened the semifinal series with an 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the WNBA playoffs on Wednesday night. But what the two-time WNBA champion really wants to see is the Sky play even better coming off wins instead of defeats. Game 3 is in Connecticut on Sunday. Jonquel Jones scored a team-high 23 points for the Sun on 10 of 17 shooting, adding seven rebounds and two blocks. Read more at:  (AP)
