Chicago Cubs  Atlanta Braves 8 – Chicago Cubs 0

Highlights:  Max Fried dominated through six innings in his return from the injured list, and the Atlanta Braves cooled off the Chicago Cubs 8-0 on Friday. Sean Murphy and Marcell Ozuna homered on back-to-back pitches in Atlanta’s seven-run fourth inning. Austin Riley connected in the seventh, and Ronald Acuña Jr. finished with three hits. Major league-leading Atlanta earned its third straight win and sixth in seven games overall. Fried allowed three baserunners, all on singles, in his first start since May 5. Chicago White SoxChicago White Sox 2 – Cleveland Guardians 4

Highlights:  Andrés Giménez hit a two-run homer among his career-high three extra-base hits, rookie Logan Allen earned his first home victory in more than three months, and the  Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 4-2 on Friday night. Giménez fouled off the first two pitches of his at-bat in the fifth inning while attempting to lay down a bunt and move Steven Kwan to second base. He then swung away, sending a fastball from Mike Clevinger (4-5) into the right-field stands to break a 2-all tie. Read more at:  (AP)

Chicago SkyChicago Sky 104 – Dallas Stars 89

Highlights:  Kahleah Copper and Courtney Williams each scored 25 points, Alanna Smith added 20 and the Chicago Sky beat the Dallas Wings 104-89 on Friday night to spoil Natasha Howard‘s first career triple-double. Williams made a career-high five 3-pointers, on just six attempts, and Copper made all four of her 3-pointers. Chicago was 14 of 24 from behind the arc and shot 55% overall in reaching 100-plus points for the second straight game. Howard finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for just the third triple-double in Dallas’ franchise history.
