Highlights:  Thairo Estrada entered the year with just 113 career Major League games under his belt in three seasons. He simply hadn’t been given many chances to prove himself in the big leagues. But when given the opportunity in San Francisco, Estrada has performed. Chicago White Sox 3 – Oakland Athletics 10

Highlights:  Ramón Laureano hit a two-run homer and Vimael Machin hit a two-run double in the decisive fifth inning to back Cole Irvin‘s second straight winning decision, and the Oakland Athletics beat the Chicago White Sox 10-3 on Sunday to snap a five-game losing streak. Defending AL Central champion Chicago had a four-game winning streak end with just the club’s third loss in 12 games as it chases first-place Cleveland in the division race down the September stretch. San Francisco 49ers 10 – Chicago Bears 19

Highlights:  The Bears erased a 10-point third-quarter deficit by scoring 19 unanswered points to beat the 49ers 19-10 in the season opener Sunday at Soldier Field. After a sluggish start, quarterback Justin Fields threw a pair touchdown passes in the second half to Dante Pettis and Equanimeous St. Brown, and a fourth-quarter interception by safety Eddie Jackson  set up a Khalil Herbert rushing touchdown. Coach Matt Eberflus earned his first win as an NFL head coach and expressed his excitement about starting 1-0. “It’s a happy feeling, it really is,” Eberflus said. “When you see they’re out of timeouts and the clock’s going down and the rain is coming down. And it’s a good feeling. It was exciting and for the first victory, and I’m excited for the guys too. I’m excited for everybody, offense, defense, kicking. I’m excited for the organization.
