Highlights: Carlos Correa homered for Minnesota and Dylan Bundy shut down Chicago once again, helping the Twins beat the White Sox 5-1 on Sunday. Jose Miranda added a two-run double in the ninth inning as Minnesota salvaged the finale of the weekend series. Max Kepler scored on Kendall Graveman‘s wild pitch in the eighth, and Jhoan Duran turned in some impressive relief work. Fighting for position in the crowded AL Central, the second-place Twins (68-64) moved two games ahead of the White Sox (67-67). Chicago Cubs 0 – St. Louis Cardinals 2
Highlights: St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols is approaching the end of his legendary MLB career, and he’s one step closer to achieving history before he hangs up his batting gloves for good. Pujols launched his 695th home run on Sunday, putting him one shy of tying Alex Rodriguez for fourth-most all time. Pujols’ pinch-hit two-run blast in the bottom of the eighth broke a scoreless tie and propelled St. Louis to a 2-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Chicago Sky 76 – Connecticut Sun 72 (CHI leads sereis 2-1)
Highlights: With the game in the balance, Candace Parker and the Chicago Sky turned up their defense and came away with a gritty win to move within one victory of returning to the WNBA Finals for a second straight year. Parker had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Kahleah Copper added 15 points and the Sky beat the Connecticut Sun 76-72 Sunday in Game 3 of the WNBA playoff semifinals. The Sky lead the best-of-five series 2-1. Copper’s 3-pointer with 6:14 left gave Chicago a 66-64 lead. Then offense was hard to come by: Neither team scored for nearly 4 minutes until Emma Meesseman hit a jumper in the corner to extend the lead to four with 2:26 left.
